How much does a personal trainer cost in Horley?

It's the question everyone wants to ask and most people feel a bit awkward asking, so let me get straight to it. I'm Tracy Austin, I've run personal training in Horley for over twenty years, and here's exactly what it costs to train with me — no vague "it depends" and no pressure.

I'll also explain what actually moves the price, because "how much does a personal trainer cost" doesn't have one answer. It depends on how you train, not just where.

The real prices

  • 1-2-1 sessions — from £55 per session. You and me, in the private studio, for a full focused hour with a programme written for you.
  • Hybrid coaching — from £90 a week. That's 1-2-1 time plus a structured app programme you follow between sessions, so you're supported every day, not just when we meet.
  • Online-only coaching — £150 for six weeks, or £240 for twelve. A full programme, check-ins and adjustments, without the in-person sessions — ideal if you're confident in a gym but want a proper plan and accountability.

And before any of that: the first 30-minute chat is free, with no obligation. That's where we work out what actually fits you and your budget.

What changes the cost

Three things move the number more than anything else.

How often you train. Two sessions a week costs more per week than one — obviously — but it's not just double the money, it's usually more than double the momentum, especially in the first few months when you're building habits and technique. For a lot of people, once a week 1-2-1 with a plan to follow in between is the sweet spot.

The format. Full 1-2-1 is the most hands-on and the most expensive per hour, because you've got my full attention and the whole gym to yourself. Hybrid brings the weekly cost down while keeping you accountable every day. Online is the most affordable because you're providing the gym and the hour — I'm providing the plan and the eyes on your progress. You can see how these compare side by side on the services page.

Session length and complexity. Most sessions are a full hour. If you've got specific goals, an injury to work around, or you're rebuilding after a long break, we spend that time properly rather than rushing — which is part of why the private setting matters.

The honest truth after twenty years: the cheapest personal training is the plan you actually stick to. Everything else is money spent on sessions you skipped.

Why a private studio can be better value than it looks

On paper, a session with me might look similar to a session at a big commercial gym. The difference is what you get for the hour. Here, the gym is yours — one client at a time, no queue for the rack, no waiting for a bench, no ten-minutes-left-on-the-timer. A focused 60 minutes in a private room genuinely gets more done than ninety in a busy gym where you're sharing the kit with forty other people.

So the "per session" price isn't really the comparison. The comparison is results per pound, and time saved. I've written more about that trade-off in private gym vs commercial gym if you want the full picture. And if the gym itself is the thing that puts you off, the room being quiet and yours is exactly why nervous first-timers get on so well here — the same reason John got started again after years away.

Packages, not long contracts

I don't tie anyone into a twelve-month contract. Hybrid runs weekly, online runs in six or twelve-week blocks, and 1-2-1 is booked in a way that suits you. Most of my clients stay for years — the twelve Google reviews, all five stars, are mostly from long-standing regulars — but they stay because it works, not because they're locked in.

If you're comparing me with a personal trainer in Horley elsewhere, or nearby in Reigate or Redhill, ask them the same questions: is the gym private, is the programme written for you, and are you tied in? The answers matter as much as the price.

The free first chat does the maths for you

Here's the practical bit. You don't have to guess which option fits or what it'll cost you over a month. In the free 30-minute chat we look at your week, your goals and your budget, and I'll tell you plainly what I'd recommend and what it comes to. No pitch, no pressure — if a different format saves you money and still gets you there, that's what I'll say.

If you'd like that honest answer for your situation, send me a message and we'll book your free chat. I'll come back the same day.

Questions, answered

How much does a personal trainer cost with you?

1-2-1 sessions start from £55. Hybrid coaching (1-2-1 plus an app programme) starts from £90 a week. Online-only coaching is £150 for six weeks or £240 for twelve. The first 30-minute chat is free and there's no obligation.

What makes the price go up or down?

Mainly how often you train, whether you go 1-2-1, hybrid or online, and session length. More frequent training and full 1-2-1 support cost more per week; hybrid and online spread the cost while keeping you accountable.

Is a private studio more expensive than a commercial gym?

Per session it can look similar, but you're paying for the whole gym to yourself for the hour and a programme written for you — no queues, no wasted time. For many people that focus makes it better value, not worse.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. I don't tie people into long contracts. Most clients stay for years because the work is honest and the results show up — not because they're locked in.
