Personal trainer near Redhill: what to expect

If you live in Redhill and you've been meaning to sort out your training, you've probably already discovered the problem — the gyms nearby are either heaving at the times you can actually go, or a fifteen-minute wait for a bench that kills the whole idea. I hear it a lot. So let me tell you honestly what training with me involves, and why the short hop to Horley is worth it.

I'm Tracy Austin. For over twenty years I've been a personal trainer in Surrey, and I run a private gym in Horley where I see one client at a time. No membership, no crowds — just a booked hour that's entirely yours.

The drive from Redhill

The studio is about ten minutes south of Redhill, straight down the A23 towards Horley. Nothing fiddly about it, and there's easy parking right by the gym, so you're not losing half your session hunting for a space. Most of my Redhill clients tell me the drive is actually a small blessing — ten quiet minutes to switch off from work before they train, and ten minutes to come back down afterwards.

If you're weighing up the local options, that short trip buys you something a busy Redhill gym can't: a floor with nobody else on it. I've made that same case for anyone looking for a personal trainer in Horley — the privacy is the point, not a nice-to-have.

The free first chat

Nobody signs up to train with a stranger sight unseen, and I wouldn't want you to. So the first step is a free 30-minute conversation — in person at the gym or over the phone, whichever suits you.

There's no pitch. I ask what you're actually trying to achieve, what your week looks like, whether you've any injuries or niggles, and what's put you off in the past. By the end I'll have sketched a rough plan and told you plainly what it would cost. If we're a good fit, we book a session. If we're not, I'll say so and point you elsewhere — personal training is a personal relationship, and there's no sense forcing it.

The hardest part is almost never the training. It's the deciding. A half-hour chat turns "I really should" into "right, when do we start?"

What a session is actually like

When you arrive, your programme is already written and waiting — you don't stand around wondering what to do. We warm up, then work through the session I've built for your body, your goals and where you are right now. I'm next to you the whole time, correcting form, adjusting weights, and making sure you're working hard but safely.

Because it's just the two of us, a focused 60 minutes gets more done than a distracted ninety in a packed gym. You're not waiting for equipment or losing your rhythm. And you don't need to arrive fit — most people come to me after a long gap or an injury. If your priority is holding onto strength as the years add up, that's very much my patch; I've written separately about strength training over 50 and why it matters more than most people realise.

Evening slots for the commute home

Plenty of Redhill folk commute into London or over to Gatwick, and by the time they're home the last thing they want is a battle for a treadmill. Sessions run Monday to Friday, 6am to 9pm by appointment. Train early before the day starts, or slot it in on the way home — either way the gym is ready and the plan is done. You can browse the private gym to see the setup before you come.

The practical bits

  • Where? A private, one-client gym in Horley, about ten minutes from Redhill down the A23. Easy parking on site.
  • Cost? 1-2-1 from £55. Hybrid (in-person plus app programme) from £90 a week. Online-only £150 for six weeks, £240 for twelve.
  • Hours? Monday to Friday, 6am to 9pm by appointment — early and evening slots for commuters.
  • First chat? Free, 30 minutes, no obligation. In person or by phone.

My twelve Google reviews are all five stars, mostly from people who've trained with me for years — no long contracts, they just keep coming because it works. If you're travelling in from the other direction, I've written a similar guide for people in Reigate too.
